报告简介:
Rydberg polaritons, spin waves in ultra cold atomic ensembles, present an interesting and promising platform for investigating photon-matter interactions, and for use as an intermediary to induce effective photon-photon interactions. As the size of the ensemble approaches the Rydberg blockade radius, some interesting physics emerges. I will present some recent work from the Rydberg Quantum Optics group in Durham University, where we exploit Rydberg interactions in such a system to demonstrate non trivial behavior. I will present recent work on the generation of anti bunched light (g2=0.2) based on Rydberg dressing of the characteristic flash produced when probe light is extinguished on a time scale much shorter than the lifetime of the excited state. I will also show recent work on the implementation of a stationary light interferometer and it's use in detecting AC microwave fields and DC electric fields. We hope to soon extend this work to perform weak measurements of photons.
