Zhonghua Ji

Associate Professor:

  Dr. Ji is now an associate professor and supervisor of master student in Institute of Laser Spectroscopy, Shanxi University. In July 2008, he graduated from the Physics and Information Engineering College of Shanxi Normal University with a bachelor's degree in physics. In July 2012, He received his Ph.D. degree with optics from the Institute of Laser Spectroscopy, State Key Laboratory of Quantum Optics and Quantum Optics Devices, Shanxi University. 2013.9-2014.9 he did postdoctoral research at the guide of Prof. Simon. L. Cornish, a PI of the Joint Quantum Center (JQC) of the Department of Physics, Durham University, UK, focusing on the coherent transfer ultracold polar molecules from Feshbach state to molecular stat with Stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) technique.

Research field:

Dr. Ji’ research field includes the theoretical and experimental research on ultrahigh sensitivity spectral analysis, coherent manipulation and quantum application of ultracold polar 85Rb133Cs molecules. By irradiating a Ti:sapphire laser with suitable laser frequency to a mixed atoms in a space-adjustable dark magneto-optical trap, excited state molecules are formed and followed by spontaneous decay to a series of ground state molecules, including the lowest vibrational state. Besides the analysis of photoassociation spectroscopy and photoionization spectroscopy, we can also control the rotational quantum state with microwave field. Further, a more precise quantum control will be implemented based on STIRAP from polarized atomic state to specially chosen molecular state with hyperfine resolution. That allow us to investigate the quantum simulation, quantum calculation, and many-body physics based on quantum degenerate gas of ultracold polar molecules in lattice arrays.
